PHRAG is responsible for the management of Grade II heritage resources (i.e. heritage resources that are of provincial significance/as stipulated in section 8(1) of the National Heritage Resources Act). We handle the overall permit application process as well as heritage site nominations and declarations

HERITAGE APPLICATIONS

Grade II heritage resources (i.e. heritage resources that are of provincial significance/as stipulated in section 8(1) of the National Heritage Resources Act) require a separate application, and typically relates to buildings that are older than 60 years of age.  – Heritage Applications and Submissions –

What are the main functions of PHRA?

PHRAs are generally responsible for the following types of heritage resources:
  • Buildings and structures of architectural, historical, technical and aesthetic value.
  • Places to which oral traditions intangible values are attached.
  • Historical settlements and towns.
  • Landscapes and natural features.
  • Geological sites.
